Our next meeting will be Tuesday, November 11, 2008 at 7:00 PM. This meeting will feature a show (and tell) "Quick Gifts for the Holidays". Need a special gift for a special someone? a quick thank you gift? a gift for an office holiday exchange? There are many opportunities when it would be great to give a hand-made gift. Please bring hand-made items that you've made or received to show at the November meeting. The item does not need to be holiday themed; a table runner in spring colors would be great to see and could easily be made in holiday fabrics. It's not necessary to bring written directions; we're creative and talented folk and can be inspired by what each member brings. This year we'll hold our Phoenix Guild holiday party (Tuesday, 9 December) at the home of Taffy McLaughlin. The event will be a pot luck with a meat course provided by the Guild. We'll sign up at the November meeting to bring ther parts of the meal. If you birthday occurs in the month of the meeting, then please remember to bring the snacks. |

At our meeting on Tuesday, October 14, 2008, Taffy McLaughlin delivered strips to all who participated in our latest batik swap. In conjunction with the strip delivery, she demonstrated how she has assembled her strips into new "fabric". She then gave cutting suggestions and showed a new quilt top using these strips. Taffy also provided tips for sewing strips, offered pattern sources, and inspired us to make exciting, one-of-a-kind quilts using our own creativity. |
